Shona Robison MSP, Scottish Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport, has announced the selection of the second cohort of Commonwealth Saltire Professional Fellows.

Three Fellows from Rwanda will come to Scotland in January 2012 for a three-month programme hosted at Heriot-Watt University by the Rwanda-Scotland Alliance.

The Minister announced the newly-selected Fellows while addressing new Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows at the recent CSC Welcome Programme held at the University of Edinburgh.

The Minister said ‘The fellows undertaking the Commonwealth Saltire Professional Fellowships will receive excellent knowledge and skills transfer for their country, from a variety of host organisations in the Scottish public, private and voluntary sectors. This is certainly a hugely worthwhile exercise’.

Commonwealth Saltire Professional Fellowships are a special initiative funded by the Scottish Government, specifically targeted at minimising the impact of climate change in vulnerable countries. The first cohort of Commonwealth Saltire Professional Fellows, from Kenya and Ghana, was hosted at the Institute for Energy Systems, University of Edinburgh, in September 2011.
